Key takeaway
The meeting ended and home is already loud, before you even arrive. You can sit in the car until your hands settle. A second meeting, even a phone meeting, is allowed tonight. The desire to stop drinking does not expire at the closing. If home is unsafe, do not go in. Call 911.

The chairs scraped. People said the ordinary endings. You are in the car with the key in your hand, and home is already happening in your head: the noise, the question, the bottle that might be there, the silence that might be worse. The meeting did its hour. The hour after is the one that scares you.
You do not have to point the car at it yet.
A desire to stop drinking is still the only requirement. It did not close when the meeting did. You can listen again. There are no dues or fees for a second hour.
Use the car as a pause, not a launch
Park stays park. If you need voices, join a phone meeting before you drive. Do not attend while the car is moving. If people from the first meeting are still outside and one of them feels safe, you can stand there for five minutes. You can also skip them. After-meeting talk is optional.
If "home" means someone might hurt you, do not treat a fellowship hour as a plan. Call 911. Go to a place that is actually safe.
aa.org will not list the next meeting. Meeting Guide will show what is still open. The meetings search might too. Confirm it. Listings here are not verified. A late meeting across town is only useful if you can get there safely.
NIDA says the group is not treatment. If the dread of the driveway is really a wish to die, call or text 988 before you drive.
Tonight
Sit until you know which way the car should point. Then either go home, or go to one more meeting and only listen. If home is dangerous, call 911 and do not walk in. A treatment referral is (800) 653-9376. Calling is free. Treatment providers pay for the referral.

Common Questions
Is it cheating to go to two meetings in one night?
No. You can listen at another one, including by phone. There are no dues or fees. You do not have to share at either. The desire to stop drinking is the requirement, and it can need more than one hour.
What if I do not want to go home at all?
If home is dangerous, call 911 and go somewhere actually safe. A meeting is not a shelter. If home is only grim, you can delay it with a phone meeting in a parked car. Do not drive while you are listening.
Do I have to tell them I was at a meeting?
No. Anonymity includes your choice about who knows. You can walk in and say nothing about the hour. You can also say you were at a meeting if that is simpler. There is no required report.
What if the quiet after the meeting is the hard part?
Stay for a minute if people are talking and that helps, or do not. Lingering is optional. A phone meeting gives you voices without the parking-lot small talk.
What if I might hurt myself on the drive?
Park. Call or text 988. Call 911 if you are in immediate danger. For a treatment referral, call (800) 653-9376. Calling is free. Treatment providers pay for the referral.
