Key takeaway
A commercial, a song, a pour on a screen, and your mouth went dry. That reflex is old. It does not have to be the rest of the night. Change the picture and get to a meeting, even a phone meeting. A desire to stop drinking can sit right next to a dry mouth.

It was thirty seconds. A pour, a laugh, a glass sweating on a screen, and your mouth went dry like you had already said yes. You are angry at a commercial for having that much reach. You are angrier at your own throat. The remote is still in your hand. The night is not over, which is both the problem and the chance.
A reflex is not a decision you have finished making.
You can want to stop while your mouth disagrees. That want is the requirement. You can go listen without explaining the ad. There are no dues or fees.
Turn the picture off and get a voice
Mute it. Stand up. If a drink is in the house, get out of the room it is in, even if the next room is a hallway. Then get a human voice that is not selling you anything. A phone meeting can start before you find your shoes. An in-person room is better if you can reach one without passing the store that would finish the commercial's argument.
Meeting Guide lists what is nearby. aa.org does not. The meetings search is another list. Confirm it. This site does not verify every listing. You can keep the camera off if you land online. You can pass if they ask you to speak. You can also say, "I got a craving from a screen," and stop there.
If you already drank and your body is in trouble, call 911. NIAAA says withdrawal after heavy drinking can be life-threatening. NIDA says the meeting is not medical care.
Tonight
Kill the picture. Join one meeting and listen until the dryness is just dryness. Do not reward the commercial. If you might hurt yourself, call or text 988. A treatment referral is (800) 653-9376. Calling is free. Treatment providers pay for the referral.

Common Questions
Does wanting it that fast mean I am back at the start?
It means your body remembers. You can still want to stop in the same minute. The membership requirement is that desire, not a calm nervous system. You do not have to wait until the craving is polite.
Should I white-knuckle it on the couch?
You can turn the screen off and move your body toward people. A phone meeting is faster than driving. Staying alone with the commercial's afterimage is how the night gets long. There are no dues or fees for the meeting.
Do I have to tell the meeting about a beer ad?
No. You can listen. You can say you got hit by a craving. You do not have to name the brand or perform the commercial. Identifying yourself is not mandatory.
What if I already poured it?
Stop if you can. If you drank, you can still go to a meeting. If you are sick or confused, call 911. NIAAA says sudden stopping after heavy drinking can be life-threatening. Do not make a meeting your detox.
What if the craving and the shame team up?
Call or text 988 if you might hurt yourself. Call (800) 653-9376 for a treatment referral. Calling is free. Treatment providers pay for the referral.
